Yamaha mt 07 - 21/05/2014 18:10

Just test ridden one if these and I have to say I'm impressed.

Anyone else ridden one?

Is it too early to buy myself a Christmas present? laugh

No. Life is too short.

Is that the triple engine ?

Re: Yamaha mt 07 - 22/05/2014 21:13

No the new cross plane twin.

The triple is the bigger mt09. The 07 is supposed to be the better bike, and it's 2k cheaper.

I have a parallel twin - Kawasaki Versys 650.

I've had 2 and I like em.

How smooth is the 07 then?

It's lovely, a really nice ride. Very light and flickable handling. Plenty of grunt from the engine but very quiet. On the test ride I pulled up at a junction and thought I'd stalled it it was so quiet. Apparently Akrapovic have a cure for that mind.

Had a great deal sorted on one but the Mrs has gone crazy over it so looks like I'll be leaving it frown

Nice one !

If you haven't already, book a BikeSafe course. That will keep the Mrs happy... and they are great fun.

Not heard of the Bikesafe course, I'll Google it.

The Mrs seems OK about it now. smile

Bikesafe is a course run by your local police force. Costs about £50 and you're given a classroom chat and a practical assessment of your riding with a police officer.

Had a look on Leicestershire Bikesafe and it's £45,quite reasonable really.

Collecting the bike this afternoon (in torrential rain no doubt).

I'll give myself a few weeks to get used to it then book a course I think.

Anyone on here done one?

Collected it this afternoon in glorious sunshine, despite the hail storms they'd predicted cool

Really enjoyed the ride home and very happy with my purchase.

Re: Yamaha mt 07 - 07/07/2014 10:21

Joe, I highly recommend BikeSafe. What a fun day out.

We rode 110 miles yesterday and (for me as a new rider) it was a very steep but enjoyable learning curve. Our observer was a really good guy. Clearly instructed us to be sensible in the 30, 40 and 50's but when it came to 'de-restriction' to make good progress so that he could tell us where our observations and passing could improve.

For £50 its an absolute bargain. Lunch was included as was tea, coffee and refreshments after the ride.

Get booked on. smile

I loved my Bikesafe weekend last year. We had 2 full days of instruction riding and class based stuff. So cheap too !

This is probably going to be my next bike:

The MT09 in a tourer chassis. 115bhp tripple.

Nice.
