FMIC review

FMIC review - 28/07/2007 22:26

I recently fitted one of Tim's (Timpeyon) FMICs.

I have to say i'm very impressed :-

- excellent quality cooler & fittings (all stainless)

- silcone hoses

- custom mount plate, with screws and fittings.

The cooler is a snug fit, I had to trim my bumper back a little, and cut a postage slot sized hole in my under-tray to ensure adequate clearance, apart from that no drama.

On the road the car feels quite different

Before

A big mid-range wallop of torque, with a marked tail-off in top end power.

After

A smoother, more even delivery with noticably more top-end power. \:D \:D

I intend to get her on the rollers again soon to see what she's running

- Powerstation anyone ?

So you think the power comes in later now? Expected by changing from smic to fmic.

A little yes, but I prefer the delivery to be honest - I've always fancied a little more top-end and now I have it. \:\)

I can hear her scream: Clean me please!! \:D

Nice to hear that you enjoy the new FMIC. My car started to sound like a jet fighter after I installed the FMIC \:P

Re: FMIC review - 29/07/2007 17:19

I would say the power has move up the rev range a *little* -but there is definitely more top end \:D

I agree, everything is a little further up in the revs.

looks excellent.

Will probably spell the end for the pro alloy kit, although i have no idea of the cost.

Re: FMIC review - 30/07/2007 05:00

Sounds good Mike \:\)

The only things I would say is that at one end of the fmic there is quite a sharp bend to bring the pipework back underneath the FMIC. This is great for design and packaging, but will add some restriction for airflow I would have thought.

Mike ,are you going to fit a straight induction pipe?

I'm not sure about the SIP tbh Joe - what sort of difference do you think I'd see ?

think they now specialise in boats as most of tewksbury is under water......

seriously though, i've been thinking of getting mine rr'd to see whats going on so if you go let me know we could have a couple of coupes on the rollers

It makes a noticeable difference, again by reducing restrictions in the intake pathway.

the downside is that you do lose that lovely intake burble of the coupe ,but will get more response and power.

Thanks Joe - I'm very tempted, plus the car looks odd with that big gap where SMIC was...I suppose I could put my sandwiches there.

Re: FMIC review - 31/07/2007 17:59

They are pretty good ,especially considering their costs and that they are basically just a straight pipe \:\)

Go for it!, and a nice big Ramair in there \:D

Got to admit i'm tempted with a straight induction pipe. Got a few other bits to finish first then maybe.

Just wanted to say I have one of Timmy's FMIC although i aint tried it yet, it really is a nice bit of kit, very well made and fits perfect. If it performs aswell as its built (which i am sure it will) I will be very happy. G \:\)

Re: FMIC review - 09/02/2008 23:52

Out of interest will one of timpyeon's FMIC make any difference to my 20vt (gtech1, K&N induction, blueflame)as i want to up the power but i am not sure it will be worth the money with so little tuning mods?

And also will i have to get it remapped or rr'ed again if i were to fit a FMIC?

I am hoping for a straight swap for my standard IC (i think)but i am too new to the Coupe to really know...anything!

Any help will be greatly appreciated. thanks, sam
