Fmic from proalloy - 06/02/2017 10:28

Hello everyone
I am after a intercooler for my 20vt, lots. Of you recommend fmic solution from proalloy. However this ones are priced ridiculously high 550 off eBay. What is so special with it that they charge so much.
After a little research I could just buy intercooler and all necessary pipes for around 200quid easy
Do you have any recommendations.also I am able to weld aluminium so can customise it whatever I want

Pro alloy one is proven to work well, and also fits well.

Another option is Mitsubishi Evo intercooler 2nd hand, but you'll have to hack off a lot more of the front bumper to fit it.

There are plenty of cheap Intercoolers on ebay, but they will perform differently, so really up to you whether you want to go with tried and tested, or save some money and take a chance. smile

Leighton was telling me that the intake temps on his one are a good deal cooler than on the Pro Alloy. I'd go with that one were I doing it again but I had a Pro Alloy fitted to mine years before the FCP one was an option. In fact I've just realised I've ben using the Pro Alloy for 10 years now - I can vouch for it's longevity!! thumb

...... and who sells that kit chinny laugh

Agree with the longevity of the PA kit, I've fitted many and they do a great job, it is an expensive kit though.

Oi, shouldn't you be resting??!!

I haven't bothered to look into the actual design of the PA intercooler, but it does not cool as well as it "should". Forget my kit, that I designed for up to 400 without having to cut bumpers, foam brace etc, but it does do the job well! However, other intercoolers that I have fitted/made up (or many that have already been fitted), do generally cool better than the PA. It's consistent data that I have logged over the years on the Coupe!

Other cars that I tune, the PA intercoolers are generally as good as any (little more pricey). The Coupe is odd in this regard, but it is a fact!
