Don't forget this will be for the later 5 speed & 6 speed gearboxes due to the fitment. Some of the older gearboxes rely on a shaft, rather than a ball for fitment.

Begbie, How can I discover what type of gearbox is in my car?

Re: MTech short shifter - 11/12/2015 14:39

Think you will need to remove the battery and battery try to get better access, but you will see either one of 2 things, a dome style ball connection (as can be seen in the photo on the link above) or a circular rubber bush, with a washer and a pin to keep it in place. If you have the washer and pin, then the short shift isn't going to work.

true, the link is for 1998 cars on only. They may make one for earlier cars though, I'll ask.

I like the idea of that but €139 is a bit much. I might be more interested at €90 if that happens - need to check which box I have first as mine is a '98 car.

I changed the clutch slave cylinder and it was quite difficult to reinstall the battery tray. The screws were very hard to get in place evil

dante20v, is it the distance from 3rd to 4th gear really shorter?
Do you have an idea of the percentage of shortening gear travel?

Thanks!

No complaints from me giving it a real workout down country lanes with hard shifting and down shifting works a treat
