Upgrade for my 20vt - 28/09/2015 12:55
I have just got my car back from FC Performance the other day.
The car was 18 years old to the day when I handed it over to Leighton. It is actually my wife's car that she has had from new.
The car was pretty much standard before apart from a remap a few years ago and a stainless cat back exhaust.
Leighton did the following work:
FC Power-Ultra+ hybrid turbo
FC FMIC
FC 3" full exhaust system with 200cpi sports catalyst
Uprated fuel pressure regulator
NGK 7 spark plugs
Uprated boost solenoid
FC 3D boost control system
Stack boost gauge
FC Stage 3 mapping + dyno
The result is 316 bhp on the dyno and 278 lb/ft torque. The object was for the most power with the standard engine and clutch, but keeping the car perfectly drivable as the car is used everyday.
Leighton could have gone for more power / torque, but with possible clutch issues down line. So we kept it sensible.
The drive from before to now has not been compromised at all. The power is smooth and consistent all the way through the rev range.
Very nice usable car and I am very happy with the end result. The 3D boost controller seems to be critical in controlling the power, drivability and smoothness.
When I picked the car up I drove 11 hours back to central France. The car ran perfectly and is definitely a lot of fun.
Next weekend I will be driving another 11 ish hours to Southern Spain. looking forward to that already.
Re-spray this winter if funds allow.
Here's to another 18 years of enjoyable motoring.
