Engine basiscs and tuning books - recommend - 31/08/2015 09:05

Hey folks. The more I work on my cars the more I understand how this all works and the more I relize How much there is to learn too. Can you please recommend me good books to start with about engine, forced induction and engine management. Something that will also help me to understand how to read and write fuel maps etc.

I am fed up with my everyday job and need to exercise my brain, do more of the stuff that I really enjoy, and hopefully change my profession one day wink

See if you like this.

It has a bit of a commercial note but it's ok for content wise.

Assuming you understand basic engine principles then these two books are a good starting point:

How to Tune and Modify Engine Management Systems
ISBN: 9780760315828

Turbocharging Performance Handbook
ISBN: 9780760328057

Once you finish these an intermediate book would be:

Forced Induction Performance Tuning
ISBN: 9781859606919

An advanced book (Degree/Masters Level) book would be:
Design and Simulation of Four-stroke Engines
ISBN: 0768004403

A good calibrations course in the UK is:

A good website to be a member of that offer online courses/webinarns:

A fun game is:

"Street Turbocharging" from HP Books. Very good book. Shows you how to read compressor maps and calculate airflow and fuel demand through an engine, amongst other things. Straightforward, practical book.

Thanks guys. I assume that these books are not too advanced? I want to start with the basics and gradually move on to intermediate and advance. How would you sort them in order from basic to advanced? I want to start buying and reading ASAP. wink
