Which spacers are perfect?

I'm buying spacers for my coop and I was wondering which spacers should I put to get best "look".

I know that the rear wheelbase is 1cm shorter than the front?, so the best way would be 16mm spacers in front and 20mm spacers in the back, or should I go 20mm spacers all round?

I have currently stock 20VT alloys on, but in spring I will have 18" ultraleggeras and the wheels have high ET,so the spacers should do to "widen" the coop.

What kind of spacers do you guys use ?

Only use hubcentric spacers on your coupe , I use 16mm spacers front and rear with my standard plus wheels and my 17" 7j track wheels but not with my 18" 8.5j azev C's and ls's . You will need to work out what size spacers to use with your ultraleggeras as I think 16mm spacers will be to big on an 18" wheel unless they are a 7j .

They are 7Jx18J et I think is 40 or even higher...

Do you think it might be dangerous to use ordinary spacers and extented wobbly bolts?
I mean there is a price difference as hubcentric would cost about 360€ total, as for the ordinary I can get them in Italy/simoni racing at 115€ + 80€ for wobbly bolts.
And I think at the rear there is about 30mm space between tire and the body, also you have to take in considiration that the lower you go, the more the rear tire moves in...

Hubcentric spacers hold the wheel in place and hold on to the hub so there will be no movement , normal spacers there is a chance they can move so I wouldn't use them myself .

the best spacer is no spacer....

I would always prefer to fit a wheel with the correct width and offset

I certainly wouldn't use wobble bolts of any description, let alone extended ones on any car with as much power as a 20VT

I use extended wobbles and spacers with my track wheels and have had no problems with them at all and have used them with my ls's for the last 7/8 years .

I guess they wouldn't be allowed if they weren't at least as strong as no spacers at all, but there's something in my head that says they shouldn't be as strong

I can understand that Nigel but once clamped down they are as strong as normal bolts .

Sorry to use your thread, but I have a question about zhe spacers also. I have 17" MOMO wheels, 7J, ET42. I can't fit them on my 20VT, which spacers should I use.

Are they 4x98 fitment with a 58.1 centre bore Shemsi ?

No, they are 4x100 with a 58.1 centre.

16mm hubcentric spacers with extended wobble bolts to cope with the 4x100 should do the trick or you can get 4x98 to 4x100 bolt on hubcentric spacers then bolt the wheel to the spacer .

thanks. I thought that 16mm would be too much. Wouldn't 10mm be enough?

Best to test fit the wheel and see how much spacer you need to clear the brembo calipers, it's hard to say when I haven't see the wheel but my team dynamics pro race 3's are the same offset and I use 16mm spacers with them and they fill the arches nicely .

OOOhhhh now I get it, I thought hubcentric spacers mean that you have to screw the spacer to the car and the rim to the spacer, but hubcantric actually means that you have a hub on the spacer so that it holds the rim in center?

Yes I think hubcentric spacer is neccesary otherwise it is very dangerous....

As for spacers I think I will go 20mm rear and 16mm front, as Rear is 12mm narrower than the front, so if I fit 16mm front and 20mm in rear, the wheels should line up....

Be very careful about altering the handling characteristics, especially at the rear - it can really upset the overall balance

There will be a very good reason that the rear track is marginally narrower than the front, and it won't be as simple as allowing the wheels to fit inside the arches

I'm guessing that it will be something to do with roll centres, and altering the rear will have a marked effect on the steering

I'm trying to get my head around whether it will increase or decrease the stiffness at the rear

I have a set of 17" 7J ET15!!! Team Dynamics pro race 2 with 225/45/17 tyres. I think this "combo" is the limit for widening without scrubbing the wheel arches while cornering And I have plenty of room to clear the Brembo calipers.

Well I measured my wheels and it seems that original 20vt alloys with tires stick 87mm out of the hub, and ultraleggeras only 77mm! Probably because the ultras are ET44 and are only 7J.

This means that is plenty of room to get 25mm for the rear and 20mm for the front. And then I think the wheels would line-up front/back.

The best option would be H&R DRA system which means that you bolt the spacer to the hub and wheel to the spacer.

At our local dealer it would cost 200€ for 4 spacers....with TUV certificate.
