So this is what a rusty Coupe looks like

Idly perusing E bay motors, with a budget of £500 and starting with cars close to me, this 20vt came up within 15 miles. Perfect colour for me, seats are a bit different too.

But I'm amazed by how rusty the sills and arches are.

(I miss my n/a like mad).

This car may be useful to keep another on the road.

'Long live the Fiat Coupe', to plagiarise a well known Coupe specialists motto.

Cant see ebay in work, but is that the snotts green with cream interior? If so, I've put a cheeky bid in, doubt it'll win as theres a reserve, probably set way too high for a scrapper.

I think its a credit to the Coupe that we tend to forget that they are all over 15 years old now with many over 100K in miles. That one does look bad though on the arches....

Why is Coupe so rusty in UK?
I never seen a rusty coupe like this one. Even the support towers for bumpers don't rust in my country. what is going on here? smile

Different climates make a difference: UK is cool Maritime climate and Croatia hot Continental.

UK roads get a lot of salt during the winter months.ie November to March typically. I'm guessing for longer than you do at home.

Weeeeell.

In the winter if it snows, or is likely to freeze, the roads are salted to reduce the amount of ice - we get quite a bit of black ice - invisible to the eye.

Our winter climate is often mild and moist too, due to the warmth of the Atlantic. Put that together with a salty underbelly and off she rusts.

You should see the late 90's Fiestas over here) what's left if them!

You beat me too it, Pete!

Do they salt the roads in Croatia, Jopa?, or grit them?

Not me, Huw. Too steep at that price. Someone will strip it for a profit, but I'm just looking for a spares car. Something might turn up one day.

In the part of Canada where I live they salt the roads pretty heavily during the winter. This is the reason why we keep our "cars of interest" stored away from November to April. Sad to put the car away for the winter but the feeling of starting them up again in April is fantastic!
