I need to wire in a new crossover as im replacing the 4 front speakers with somponents, but im not sure of the best way to get at the amp. Its just the standard clarion job.

I assume its ok to use the original feed that was going to the tweeters and connect that into the crossover to supply the signal for the new woofer+tweeter ?

also i was thinking of using new speaker cable but im not sure how to route it all? is there a guide?

thanks

I would rewire it completely. You'd need to splice the original wiring before the original crossover anyway, so you may as well just rewire them.

I wired mine to an amp in the boot, but yours would be similar, with the tweeter and woofer wires going to the crossover, which is easily installed behind the dash ends (under the original tweeters). The wiring to the head unit can then be fed along the interior of the dash, or cable tied along the bottom of the dash.

i dont think there is a crossover, just a resistor or something on the original tweeter.

But regarding the amp, how do i get to it ?

ah, finally found some stuff on it. So i need a special 'tool' to be able to pull the unit out? can i bypass the need for this tool by removing the centre console?

Yes, but be carful. When you have the console out about 6cm you will see the locating prongs that keep the Stereo in place. You can use a couple of knives slid down each side of the unit to release these prongs and extract the unit. Be very careful when replacing the console and do not force anthing as it is fragile and WILL break
