For the cooler, yes. The difficulty is at the connection to the engine.

Yes cooler is still avail. This will cause some big problems down the line i think.

Everyone better get there current pipes cleaned up and treated to preserve.

Manufacturing these in the factory routing/fitment has proven difficult in previous attempts.

Is the thread on the unions not a standard metric? Just thinking there are plenty of hydraulic suppliers. Surely just a case of getting some ends put on some flexing pipe?

Here's the cooler on the kit; the cooler is standard, the pipes are (bloody expensive - around a ton, I think) from Pirtek with the other end welded to Fiat original pipes - the bit near the engine doesn't tend to rust so much. Even so, the terminations didn't quite match at the cooler and required a little tickling with a drill and file.

Steve was telling me the other week that Fiat have stopped making coil springs too. Apparently its down to the economic climate with the suppliers focusing on more profitable items such as supplying the factories with springs for mass produced cars still in production.

Guess we have no option now but to lower our cars on eibachs?!? laugh ...... Had no choice mr insurance man! hehe

and i hear this just as i start looking for oil cooler pipes because mine have split/i put my thumb through them.
it was only the other day i realised they was oil pipes because i was told by an idiot that i brought the car off that they were power steering pipes so i ordered power steering pipes not realy thinking much of it and when i went to fit them they was wrong, well right for the car but not the pipes i needed.lol

i know there is a big thing about this but is it possible to cut the bit of pipe out and replace it with a rubber pipe as a temp repair till i get round to fixing it properly. i realy want the car on the road now frown

Looks like AA prices have shot up now for oil pipes since the latest discovery...

Im pretty sure they were around £300 before now £450! shocked

http://shop.ebay.co.uk/?_from=R40&_t...-All-Categories

Luckily I found a brand new set from a Lancia dealer on ebay a month ago for £100 love

I think its time we/the club look into manufacturing things like these...

Fiat only make parts for their cars for 10 years.

Over the last 2 years there has been a quick increase in the 'no longer available' parts list.

Good call thumb

Now might be the time for the club to start being more active with obsolete parts - although it seems crazy given that we're talking about a 90's car. As a member I'd pay a higher yearly fee if I had access to cheaper parts stocked by the club in a club shop. Hopefully there would be plenty of members that would offer to do the legwork with suppliers, spreading the workload?

Tricky when you get down to producing parts that have an impact on safety though, like springs? What's the implications as far as the law goes?

Springs are the easiest thing to get sorted. There are plenty of companies who can either copy an existing spring or remake to suit; I used Faulkners for the kit and was very impressed with them.

If the club hade something made and then the club sold it in their shop, who would be liable in the event of a failure that caused an accident?

The manufacturers... the club would be a reseller...
The club probably wouldnt go into making things that are safety critical... Springs are easy to get hold of nowdays...

Oil Cooler pipes
Rad Cross Member
etc etc will be on the list.

The club are actively looking into this and will update when we know something

Glad I got my cooler/pipes done a year or so back.

I found things being discontinued when I needed to do stuff on the car ..

- rear springs
- a brake line

only going to go downhill from here on

I think the main problem was due to the threaded end on the oil filter side which was causing the problem with getting braided pipes made up.

I know GT3turbo come up with a solution for this too, clicky

How to the oil pipes fit into the block side? Are they push fit with a collar?

Surely it would be easier to machine that end flat, tap a nice thread and then connect whatever BSP/UNF/etc.. fittings you want.

Here's a photo if it helps. They push in and they have an O-ring that makes a seal. A nut with a washer type thing holds each one in place.

I think you can also see the compression joints that you can clamp onto any clean metal pipe to go to a BSP thread if that's what you want.
