1995 brought new engines, new colours and a face lifted interior. With the 1.8 16v (which was not available in the UK) offering 130bhp, the 2.0 20v 147bhp, the Fiat Coupe went on to attack a broad public. The 1.8 engine offered greater flexibility than the former 2.0 16v, and an increased fuel economy. The 2.0 20v with 5 cylinders had very smooth power delivery and gave a great balance between power and economy... it’s also rumored to be the best sounding coupe of the range. The 20v NA engine was also used in the Bravo HGT, Marea and Lancia Kappa saloon.
In addition, the 20v models receive a slight facelift in the end of 96. The most important changes were: a new central console with analogue display watch, new door inner lining, new handle bars at the B-pillar, radiator grill with rib design, a third stop light as well as new car body and leather colours (grey, sand and plain leather).
